Wraptastic Customer Review

wraptastic-foil-dispenserI’ve been using the Wraptastic for a while now and I can’t overstate how useful it is. I’ve always had trouble getting saran wrap to behave itself when I try to wrap food in it, so, when I saw an ad for the Wraptastic, the choice was obvious. I’ve bought stuff I saw advertised off the TV before, just like everyone else, and I’ve regretted a few of those purchases. However, I have yet to find a reason to regret purchasing the Wraptastic.

The fact that I can actually get saran wrap out easily would be enough of a reason to buy the Wraptastic even if it didn’t do anything else. I don’t know about everyone else, but I have always had trouble getting saran wrap started. Every time I got the box out, I’d find that the end had gotten stuck to the roll. This always started up a minute or so long fight where I had to basically wrestle the end of the saran wrap off of the roll so I could even try to use it. The Wraptastic, however, keeps the end of the wrap separated from the rest of the roll which makes pulling it out a breeze.

The other great thing is that I can actually get an even cut with the Wraptastic. Anyone who’s ever used saran wrap – in other words, almost everyone – knows how it likes to stretch and tear when you try to pull it down on the small blade built into the box. The Wraptastic, on the other hand, gives me a perfect cut every time. This makes it a lot easier for me to wrap plates and pots up for leftovers.

The commercial mentioned using it for tinfoil, too, and I have to admit I like it better than the box for that, too. I never really had a problem with aluminum foil, other than the occasional odd rip, but I have to admit it’s easier to just push down on the Wraptastic than pulling down on the box. The biggest benefit, for both saran and tinfoil, is that I don’t have to guesstimate how big I need the square to be!

With saran and tinfoil, I had to kind of guess how big a piece I needed since trying to lay it over the plate before tearing it just made the wrap bind. With this product, though, I don’t have to worry about that at all. Now, I just pull it out, lay it over the plate, and push. Overall, I’d give it 5 stars across the board. I literally can’t find a single thing wrong with it.

The Wraptastic Dispenser Commercial

The Wraptastic is a new product designed to help you use saran wrap, wax paper, and even tinfoil without any of the risk or hassle that you have to deal with when using them out of the box. Like almost all good products designed to make life easier for you, there is a commercial for the Wraptastic. Unlike some commercials, however, this one actually tells you just about everything you need to know about how the Wraptastic works.

wraptastic-commercialThe commercial starts, obviously, by showing the problem that Wraptastic fixes. Namely, it shows video of the all-too-familiar sight of people fighting with saran wrap. Unlike a lot of commercials that tend to overdo the “before” part of these commercials, Wraptastic’s commercial kept it within the bounds of realism.

After that, they jumped right into showing how Wraptastic worked. To their credit, they did an excellent job of showcasing the entire device. The commercial actually briefly walks you through how to use the Wraptastic step by step. They show you how to grab the wrap that’s already in it, how to pull it fee, and how to cut the wrap off. A lot of commercials basically ask you to accept that it works without showing you how. It’s nice to see one that doesn’t for a change.

wraptastic-siteThey also show you how to install and remove rolls of saran wrap from the Wraptastic. They don’t walk you through this, obviously, but simply show you a general idea of it. The host is shown removing an empty roll and demonstrates that the small plugs used to hold the roll in are spring loaded. The rest is left unsaid, but it’s fairly easy to figure out.

One part of the commercial that was actually enjoyable was the “competition” part. Like all commercials, they showed you a comparison between the Wraptastic and a regular box of saran wrap. It was rather impressive to see the Wraptastic in action like that and it didn’t seem like the woman using the box of saran wrap was messing up on purpose.

Overall, the commercial did a good job explaining what the Wraptastic was, both visually and through spoken word, and demonstrating how it worked. The host wasn’t all that convincing – he seemed like he was trying to impersonate Billy Mays more than anything – but he wasn’t really bad. Even if he had been, though, the rest of the commercial was good enough that it could have made up for him.

Between the fact that it has a bad habit of bunching up on itself and the boxes making it difficult to get an even cut, there have been a few people that tried to come up with plastic wrap dispensers to take some of the hassle out of using plastic wrap. The big question about them, though, is how useful are they really?

Depending on what kind of plastic wrap dispenser you get, the answer to that question can range from “not very” to “extremely”. The difference between the great ones and the wastes of space is quite simple. How good a job do they do keeping the plastic wrap from binding up? If you get a dispenser that makes sure the plastic wrap stays straight while you’re pulling, that’s a great start.
